"Rajveer Singh (Vinay Virmani) has the talent to be one of the nation's top hockey players, but he has one problem: his father's devotion to work and family forbids him to play. Now, with the help of an unlikely new coach -- and former NHL'er -- Coach Winters (Rob Lowe), along with the coach's 'off-limits' kid sister (Camilla Belle), and in spite of being constantly undermined by his entitled cousin (Russell Peters), he's putting together an unlikely all-Sikh hockey team behind his father's back. But when his team makes an unexpected run for the Cup, and with the entire Sikh community inspired, Rajveer has to choose between playing on, or respecting his father's wishes."--Container.

A sweet little movie. Kind of low-budget and predictable. But it had some funny moments, and a good message.

Tina R. Cooper says: "This movie shows: How each cultures while different are basically the same", all have family, friends, desires, and hopes". Funny & entertaining!

Great, funny Bollywood/hockey movie, they even throw Drake and Ludicris into it, not sure why?, but def. worth watching.

Quirky, like the Canadian mosaic. A Canadian hockey story with an East Indian team set in Toronto. We get to view Canadian life from inside the lives of this extended East Indian family. A taste of their heritage, culture, humor, agonies and triumphs.

Maybe the writing could have been a bit tighter, but the portrayal of each character was so believable and engaging. I recommend this for a laugh, for enlightenment and just for entertainment.

really i'm not sure how you couldn't watch this. it could have been better, i don't think they would have had to put too much effort into it either, but what do you do.

Not a film I would usually give a passing grade, but this one worked. The colourful wedding outfits was a treat visually. Peters gives a few 1 liners which were great (similiar to his comedy routines) Quite predictable, but fun regardless

Good - Breakaway (2011) 101 min. You are all invited to a Sikh wedding and while a wedding was taking place, a hockey game broke out. I had very little expectations for this Canadian film but was converted after the first 5 minutes of watching this humble and fun film from start to finish. The film employs the "prodigal son" theme to a sentimental and rewarding ending. Yes, the acting isn't the greatest and production values are as expected of a low budget film but heck it was fun to watch. What the film does have in droves is wonderful characters and a timeless story.
