If you are even thinking about reading this book, start at number 1 in the Cork O'Connor series and get hooked. Although each book can be stand alone the adventure is worth all the reading.

Becoming a believer of William Kent Krueger's story telling skills. Another book that creatively presents a tale involving cultutre, forklore, customs, ritual behavior and beliefs of the Ojibwe native americans. The crime writing is Succinct, creative and effectively shown thru Cocoran O'Connor. Seldom is the protagnist able to incorporate belief in family and their ties, as a backdrop in a tale. This murder invovles love in; friendships, disfunctional families, spiritual beliefs, and having fame and fortune.

This is the latest in a good, character-driven mystery series involving as sheriff in northern Minnesota who is part Ojibwe indian. Trickster's Point is more the story of how Cork O'Connor becomes entangled in the murder of his high school friend Jubal Little and their lives up to Jubal's death as much as it is a mystery. I liked this book well enough to go back and start the series from the beginning with Iron Lake. This may have special appeal to fans of Tony Hillerman.

After reading the first eight Cork O'Connor mysteries I took a break (got mad when the author killed off a character). Now I've gone back and read some of the more recent ones. I don't find these as good as the first ones. They're ok and I still like most of the characters but there's not as much about the characters interiors (what's they're thinking and feeling) as earlier and too much stuff on god and spirituality (not my thing).

One of Kent's best books yet ! He brings in a totally new character so skillfully you almost think he's been in the series before. He also fleshes out his older characters like his son. -A great book, I read it in 2 days

I enjoyed the way the characters were interwoven, and I was guessing until the unraveling at the end.
