An interesting glimpse of post-Soviet Mongolia. I want more!

Tuya is smart, conscientious, hardworking, proud (a little too unbending for her own good, truth be told), and beautiful. Unfortunately, her many fine qualities may be more burden than blessing to the overworked young mother as suitors queue up like vultures at the carrion feed of her (practically state-mandated) divorce.

Tuya's Marriage is a tale of a Inner Mongolian shepherd who is financially desperate and needs to divorce her disabled husband so she can marry a new husband to take care of her, her first husband and her two children. Tuya gets proposals from numerous men and finds it difficult to find someone who will accept both her and her first husband. The film shows the harshness of living in this part of the world, especially for a woman who must take care of her family without the assistance of another adult.
