Nine-year-old George was severely autistic; quiet and withdrawn, he appeared lost in his own world most of the time. Then one day a small, black-and-white stray cat appeared at the bottom of her garden and George's face lit up. This is the heart-warming true story of Julia's son George and the cat that changed his life.

i wanted to like this book, it had all the things i was looking for in it, a single mom raising her autistic son, a family being brought together thanks to a cat but i couldnt finish it sadly, i feel like it prattled on in some areas where it wasnt really necessary but anyway i would suggest an attempt at it none the less

Wonderfully moving book that gives insight into the difficult, lonely and sometimes cruel world of autism. Hope comes in the form of a tiny cat who magically helps George deal with his world and the world around him. Ben (the cat) also helps George form a relationship with his Mother that would not have been possible otherwise. He was not diagnosed as being autistic until sometime later- no one knew why he acted the way he did. He did not fit in with his world and his world did not fit him. Ben's arrival changed all that. At the risk of being long winded here, this is just a remarkable book and I really enjoyed it.
