Food writer Jacob Richler, son of Mordecai Richler, takes us through a personal culinary journey from his mother's table to his father's favourite restaurants. But it also tells the story of Canadian cuisine, examining its roots and assessing how it compares internationally. Richler profiles the chefs who created the dishes that have influenced our national identity, and includes recipes so the reader can have a part in the Canadian food experience at home.

This book was a little too haute cuisine for me. I was hoping to read about the food habits of everyday Canadians.
