Good for vocabulary study, but seriously outdated. Show me a modern carpentry crew that uses hammers instead of nail guns! Also, Gibbons frequently writes in a passive voice, which I found grating, and makes it seem like things are just happening to the house as if by magic. An ending section on "Simple Shelters of the Past" is problematic and stereotyped, and fails to recognize that many of these shelters are still in use today.
