Kenny Powers is a former Major League pitcher who used to have it all: fame, endorsements, and a lucrative contract. Now, after hard living has taken its toll on his fastball, Kenny finds himself crashing with his brother's family and teaching gym class at the same North Carolina middle school where he once attended. Wherever he goes, Kenny wreaks havoc with his boorish behavior, all while plotting his triumphant return to the big leagues.

This is the worst thing I have ever checked out from the library.

Fan-f*cking-tastic! I thought this was hilarious. Fair warning though, it is riddled with adult language, situations, drug use, and nudity. All the proper ingredients for comedic gold. I wouldn't expect anything less from Danny McBride and HBO.

I am 3 episodes in and I hate it. There is not enough humor to counter this terrible story.

Kenny Powers is arrogant, crude and rude in Eastbound & Down. There are six one-half hour episodes in season one. After a good major league baseball (MLB) career, Kenny lost his fastball and was forced out of MLB. Having blown all his money, Kenny returns to his North Carolina roots and crashes at his brother's house. There he must settle working as a middle school gym teacher to earn some money. All the while Kenny continues to strut his stuff and contemplates his return to MLB. Will Ferrell co-produces the series and makes two hilarious guest appearances as a sleezy car dealer.

I really think Danny McBride is funny. I have thought he was funny in everything he has ever been in. That being said, this is just an average series in my opinion. it's funny. It's crude. Worth watching, but could have been much better.
