We have two theories about the murder: either it's a clone dynasty corporate cover-up, or... there's a humanoid alien with knife fingers that likes to shred human hearts. This book manages to generate over 900+ pages of suspense and science fiction thrills.

What a great book. Part Murder Mystery/Who Done It and part Secret Alien Invasion. It starts out slow and gradually picks up speed. It has some heartbreaking moments as well as some that will just make you laugh out loud. I really do wish there was a sequel. The worlds he creates are so real, with their own cultures, histories and beliefs.

If you are the impatient/ADD type that wants everything to happen fast, you will not enjoy this book. This book is for true sci-fi fans that can just sit back and enjoy the journey. Peter Hamilton is a living legend and the fact there is a ridiculous amount of description in his books just goes to show how much thought he's put in to creating his universe & characters for us to enjoy.

Enjoyable, if not exceptional SF saga from PFH, one of my favourite "Space Opera" type authors. As with a lot of his books the pace is such so that the 900+ pages doesn't feel like a drag. Features the standard PFH super rich interstellar dynasties, and although it always makes for engaging reading, I can't helping wishing he'd try out a different angle for a change. Worth a read for fans of this genre, if you're new to PFH try one of his earlier series, they're better.

A well organized and well written science fiction murder mystery. Multiple story lines are easy to follow and the flashbacks help develop the story line.
On the detrimental side: 940p and a weight of about 5lbs (Yes, my arm tired from holding it as I read)
But, still all and all, well worth the read!

EXCELLENT. SPOILER: THE HAPPY ENDING IS JARRING, BUT STILL SATISFYING.
