Summer, 1920. Sophia has always done what was expected of her. A beautiful young woman and dutiful daughter, she is now about to marry into an aristocratic family. Then an unexpected visitor arrives with news of a mysterious legacy which Sophia must collect in person from her mother's birthplace, the village of Needlewick. Despite herself, Sophia is glad of an excuse to escape the restriction of post-war London to visit her wayward mother's family and relive her own childhood memories, but Needlewick isn't quite as she remembered - and the legacy raises some disturbing questions...
