Renee Zellweger is the perfect quirky Rom com actress.

This movie is so easy to watch, and rewatch. Fun story, great cast... it never feels too dated. A longtime favorite of mine!

VERY GOOD 2001 romantic comedy as Rene Zellweger character attempts to deal with all her employment problems - and also difficult romantic adventures with two men.

So now we have to refer to Renee Zellweger as two-time Oscar winner. She's decent, if squinty here, but I'm not sure why they didn't cast a Brit. The movie also could've used more shagging. Hugh Grant became much more interesting when he started playing jerks. The humor around workplace sexual harassment and flirting is a bit cringe-y. And man there's a lot of smoking. Definitely a relic of the early 00s. Followed by 2 sequels. Based on the book by Helen Fielding. Oh, look for the Salman Rushdie cameo!

One of my favorite romantic comedies! The film is very funny and the cast was perfectly chosen.

Pretty good comedic movie, can be pretty relatable and overly-dramatic. Recommend for a few laughs.

Who says an American from Texas can't play a Brit? Renee proves that they can!

Still is funny and fun to watch after all this time. Surprise was that my kids loved it! (10 and 13 yo boys).

Bridget Jones's Diary is a light and fun romantic comedy. The cast is very good. This first movie is better than its sequels, but those are okay, too. Bridget Jones's Diary is rated R for language and some strong sexuality.

Mark Darcy: Mother, I do not need a blind date. Particularly not with some verbally incontinent spinster who drinks like a fish, smokes like a chimney, and dresses like her mother.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that when one part of your life starts going okay, another falls spectacularly to pieces.

I've been going crazy. I can't stop thinking about you, and thinking about what an idiot I've been. Christ, is that blue soup?

Bridget: Wait a minute; nice boys don't kiss like that.
Mark Darcy: Oh, yes, they f*ing do.

Mark Darcy: I don't think you're an idiot at all. I mean, there are elements of the ridiculous about you. Your mother's pretty interesting. And you really are an appallingly bad public speaker. And, um, you tend to let whatever's in your head come out of your mouth without much consideration of the consequences... But the thing is, um, what I'm trying to say, very inarticulately, is that, um, in fact, perhaps despite appearances, I like you, very much. Just as you are.
