A good read. The book offered great detail and insight during the year 1919 and the administration of Mayor William Hale Thompson (Big Bill Thompson). Native Chicagoans can truly see connections from the past to present times.

Easy read about a time of crisis and how politicians reacted (or failed to).
I enjoyed, but dismayed that the politics too closely resembled today's politics.

It was humanized by giving accounts of "regular" individuals living at time, reporter, young Jewish woman...
