A good quick read. Joe Posnanski presents a well-written account of Joe Paterno's career as a head coach at Penn State. He does not shy away from covering the sex abuse scandal, which ultimately led to Paterno's downfall as the coach. He does not speculate on what Joe knew or didn't know about the Sandusky case. In the end, Posnanski states that Joe should have done more.

Stayed too long- a younger, more ambitious person would have followed up to learn what the AD did (which unfortunately was nothing). I don't think he knew what was going on but he has to be held accountable. A great man with a legacy tarnished by a monster.

I found "Paterno" to be a good read. He found his career niche as a football coach. As was mentioned in the book, Joe and Jerry Sandusky were not particularly close and I don't believe Joe really knew what was taking place.

Joe Paterno covered up a sex abuse scandal. One of the worst in American history. I had a lot of trouble with this book. It wants to set aside the coverup and highlight a positive life. Yes, I guess there were good things. But the victims and their families who cried out for help, and Joe Paterno looked the other way? Joe behaviour was unacceptable, and much of what Joe achieved has been stricken from the record books. So there is a serious flaw to this book
