Lamb is the hilarious tale of Joshua better known as Jesus and his best friend Biff; they go on many adventures while Joshua prepares to become the messiah. This story is just plain funny and silly it has sentences that make you laugh and ones that make you think. It’s the kind of book you go to on a day you want to smile as well as one of those books you never want to put down. The book starts when Joshua is 7 and meets Biff while at the central well in Nazareth; at that time Joshua and his brother are playing with a lizard, when his brother James kills it. Joshua continues to revive the lizard by putting it in his mouth (which is unclean by Jewish laws) and gives it back to his brother. I feel this moment is very important because it communicates how he isn’t just a normal kid he does something “unclean” (against Jewish law) in the very first chapter as well as preforms a miracle.

Even though I very much love this book and think the writing is a perfect five out of I five I would not recommend this book to kids under fifteen because of the inappropriate humour and foul language. In conclusion I recommend this book to young adults and ones who are preferably not easily offended. This book is a five out of five for me because it managed to be addictive and hilarious and even though mostly everyone knows what happens to Jesus I was pleasantly surprised with the somewhat unexpected ending.

At first I found the narrator a little annoying, but then I realized the character of Biff was annoying and it was in fact perfect delivery. This quickly grew on me as a hilarious and very irreverent story that had me laughing out loud more times than I can count.

As a non-religious person, I wasn't sure what I was getting into with this book. Man, am I glad I picked it up. I had to stop three times in the first chapter to read something aloud to my husband, and I'm going to go out and purchase a copy for myself, because this has to live on my shelf. It's funny, and poignant, and heart-rending at the end. Totally worth a read.

This is my all-time favorite book. I always love Christopher Moore, but as a once-upon-a-time Catholic, the "good stuff" from my religious past is mixed with serious wit and the most LOVELY friendship. I have read it four times and every time, obviously knowing Joshua (Jesus) is going to die (ohmygosh, spoiler alert! So sorry!) I get anxious and don't want it to happen. It's seriously the sweetest friendship and the love between these two men is heartwarming. Read it, you'll love it!

Poorly written, not funny, it was dopey. I thought the premise was intriguing but the execution was lame.

Very amusing and surprisingly insightful . Laughed, cried and re-examined what I thought I knew.

Some people with no sense of humor will dismiss this book as heresy, as they did Monty Python's "Life of Brian"! But I love it! It really fills in the years between when Joshua got left behind in the temple and when he started preaching that the bible leaves out!

One of my top 5 books of all time. This book will make you laugh out constantly; it will also make you think and ponder the story of Christianity. Just read it. You won't regret it.

“I've tried to get the angel to watch MTV so I can learn the vocabulary of your music, but even with the gift of tongues, I'm having trouble learning to speak hip-hop. Why is it that one can busta rhyme or busta move anywhere but you must busta cap in someone's ass? Is "ho" always feminine, and "muthafucka" always masculine, while "bitch" can be either? How many peeps in a posse, how much booty before baby got back, do you have to be all that to get all up in that, and do I need to be dope and phat to be da bomb or can I just be "stupid"? I'll not be singing over any dead mothers until I understand.”

“If you have come to these pages for laughter, may you find it.
If you are here to be offended, may your ire rise and your blood boil.
If you seek an adventure, may this song sing you away to blissful escape.
If you need to test or confirm your beliefs, may you reach comfortable conclusions.
All books reveal perfection, by what they are or what they are not.
May you find that which you seek, in these pages or outside them.
May you find perfection, and know it by name.”
