Fun read with a likeable and competent protagonist, but with a frustrating literary device: everything goes to hell in a handbasket - it's predictable that something will go wrong and it gets a bit tiring. If he gets an amulet of protection then of course he is going to lose it. I came to start expecting the whole "against all odds" thing.
But still, I enjoyed it.

Excellent new series - refreshing change from the teenage angst urban fantasy.

Here is a UF series for the adults!

Loved this book. Full of quirky characters and a plot line that tends to be wild and roam more than it should, the central idea of what if, what if you had the power to alter someone's life by creating the perfect tattoo. And should you? All from the guy who doesn't want to be a part of the oppressors and apparently stands as a symbol of the underground.
