A heartbreaking/uplifting story and beautifully read. I'm hooked on English novels at the moment and this is one not to be missed. There were parts in the middle that were a bit slow but overall a great read/listen.

I loved this audiobook! It's a quiet tale of forgiveness and sorrow and renewal. I'm going to read or listen to all of Rachel Joyce's books now.

Engrossing, tender, and bitter-sweet. I absolutely loved this story – and I typically don’t enjoy love stories.

I'm commenting not on the book but on the reading of the book. I suspect there is no more fortunate author than Rachel Joyce. Her novel is read with uncommon sensitivity and force.
Jim Broadbent is a master at his craft.I wonder if it might be better to listen to it being read to you.

As for the book itself....beyond wonderful!

This unique story is beautiful in so many ways. We are never too old to change, nor to make an impact on others.

From the first page on, I was hooked on this book. It's a simple premise--walk to see Queenie who is dying of cancer. He meets people along the way and contemplates things from his past, like with his son and his marriage. It reminded me of Forrest Gump and that guy from Canada who walked. Sometimes I think Harold walking is not realistic, but I just went with it and enjoyed the journey.

Don't you love when a book surprises you in some wonderful way? The writing style is simple and clear. There is nothing corny or overworked here. It's an unusual premise that never feels forced and the audio CD is so easy to listen to.

This book starts out with a touching premise, filled with English charm, and over time it reaches a much deeper emotional level. Good read for a glimpse into coping with strained relationships and loss of loved ones.
