Not my cup of tea. Too much like a romance novel, not enough historical context, too, too much family dynamics and exposition concerning the unfulfilled life of our purported protagonist, led me to give up after 77 pages. I was hoping for more of an historical mystery, not of the skeletons in the family closet type.

What a whirlwind of a book--you've got Downton Abbey + Out of Africa. Loved this from cover to cover.

This is pretty standard Lauren Willig fare, which means that if you're a fan of glamorous period pieces about wealthy British people having romantic drama and discovering family secrets, you'll like this. I thought the modern storyline in this one was more successful than in perhaps any of Willig's other books, and I also really appreciated the fact that, while it seems like the most important plotline running through this story is the romance, I would argue that this is, first and foremost, a story of friendship instead. Highly enjoyable.

Recommended for fans of Kate Morton, this novel has many twists and turns as a family is forced to confront its secrets. The author keeps you guessing right to the end. History, mystery, romance - a real pageturner.

A multi-generational love story filled with family secrets and interesting characters. The book’s chapters transport the reader to 3 different countries, in both contemporary and historical time periods. Highly recommended for fans of Downton Abbey!

This is a generational family historical drama. Not the most likeable characters but generally a pretty good book. Well worth reading.

This was a pretty decent book. Better than I had expected. Not entirely predictable. I wanted to know how it would end. I won it through Goodreads.
