This is a classic but easy to read -- a very sweet story that I recommend to anyone!
Did you know that Mark Twain was the author's great-uncle?
Also, there is a sequel to this story called "Dear Enemy".

It was a joyful read with humor and why I miss snail mail.

I really enjoyed this book. Read it in less than 4 hours. I loved the Mary Pickford silent film based on this book as well.

18-year-old orphan Jerusha Abbott is sent to college by a mysterious trustee of the John Grier Home (the orphanage). All she has to do is send him a detailed letter once a month telling him about her life and studies. She can never know who he is, and he'll never write back.
But of course . . . stuff happens!
