Zoe Hoffman is a gentle, romantic soul, but has been so hurt in the past that she dare not trust her heart with anyone. Especially not Alex Nolan. He drinks to keep his demons at bay and not only has he given up on love, he has never, ever believed in it. Zoe and Alex are oil and water, fire and ice, sunshine and shadow. But sometimes, it takes only a glimmer of light to chase away the dark.

A little disappointed with this one; mostly I didn't care for the reader's style. I really disliked the voice he used for Zoe. I miss Tanya Eby. I think that this guy would be better for a different book than this one. The story lost me a little, when the suggestion of Justine being a lapsed witch foreshadowed the next book. I have no interest in that (though I know others do). I did finish this book, so I liked it that much. It is probably not one that I will relisten to, like the first FRIDAY HARBOR. I really liked that one.

I wish Lisa Kleypas would go back to writing historicals.... She's much better at them.
