Drawing on some ten years of experience working in adapted physical education, Canales teams up with kinesiology academic Lytle (California State U., Chico) to create a practical text for public school teachers and other professionals planning and implementing activity programs for Grades 6-12 students with severe physical disabilities. Fifty activities focus on four fitness categories: balance and flexibility, muscular strength and cardiorespiratory endurance, eye-hand and eye-foot coordination, and moving in general space. Each activity is illustrated with a b&w photograph and includes a title, primary and secondary concepts addressed, activity goal, list of equipment, setup and procedure descriptions, low and high variations of the activity, and informal assessment questions. No subject index has been provided, however an "Activity Finder" table at the front of the book lists name, primary concept, secondary concept, equipment, and page number.
