I have been researching the art of Temari. The key to a successful temari is accurate marking of the "mari". It's not something you can fudge and expect the same beautiful results shown in the coloured photos. To that end, there are detailed directions, tips and tricks to make sure your pattern is correctly marked. After that, the laying down of the thread is easy enough to follow. The author also has a website with additional info. If you want inspiration, this is the book.
