Disappointing.
The book features twelve journal "topics", each covered by two artists using different mediums.
CONS: The pictures where they show you how they did certain steps in embellishing their themed journals are quite small. Other pictures included of the submitted journals seem chosen at random to showcase only the artists' style, not to inspire or guide the reader.
Dialogue about how they approached the assigned theme is mostly vague and doesn't truly relate to how to plan and create a journal. For example, one artist shows a beautiful panel made of cloth done with quilting and trapunto, but I didn't see it attached to a journal and wondered why this artist and her art style were even included in this journal challenge. Wished the distant shots had some comparison close-up detail, plus more grouped pictures of interior/exterior from each journal.
PROS: There are some interesting SNIPPETS on how to use mixed media. A couple of the journal covers were very lovely to view. Several well known artists contributed to book.
