Climbing trees, playing with wool... Matilda is sure her cat will love these things, but he doesn't seem very enthusiastic. Undaunted, she thinks up new ways to amuse her reluctant playmate. Tea parties? Dressing up? Or what about a nice bike ride? As the beleaguered cat goes from nonplussed to terrified, Matilda gets more and more frustrated.

This one skews a little bit older than some Gravett's other books that are great for ages as little as 1 or 2: this one has an extra layer of understanding in terms of crossed-out text as well as the idea that her cat might just want to be with Matilda more than anything else.

The kids in story time loved this book, and the cat illustrations kept them laughing.

A very cute story.

Very sweet story about a loving cat! I love the plug for the author's book about dogs that Matilda reads in this book about a cat.

True to the nature of the cat, this cat shows exactly what it dislikes, and only at the end shows why it goes along with all of it. Humourous and sweet.
