An Irish funeral has what's called a wake, a Jewish funeral has what's called sitting shiva, and a traditional Chinese funeral is something else entirely, which is what the estranged siblings of a Westernized Chinese-American family discover as they try to fulfill their mother's last wish.

i've seen other movies with disfunctional families, but this is the first i've seen with a chinese family. i suppose there are a few funny parts, but mostly the kids are just rotten, ungrateful, and mean not only to each other but everyone around them. interesting twist to the plot at the end. it was a good idea for a story, but the 4 kids gathering for the funeral were unlikable. i liked everyone else NOT part of that family much better actually.
