This was a very enjoyable read. I found the characters very likeable and the descriptions of the cultural differences between the English and Amish to be enlightening. In this book, solving the murder seemed a bit secondary in relation to each characters' process of self-discovery after recovering from a life crisis. A great first book in the Amish series.

A good start for a new series.

I agree with the ReadingWriter. I really enjoyed this book and the author did a great job of moving the book along without to much extra stuff that some writers add into their books. I too like the way the characters change and grow as their relationships with others change. I very much like the main character and could relate to her. She was someone that I would love to know in real life. A very enjoyable read.

I didn't know what to expect when I picked up this mystery, but I found I enjoyed it very much. The relationships build in a believable way. The author does a very good job portraying the differences in culture between the Englischers and the Amish. The mystery is strong but the main theme, I thought, is the growing and changing relationships among the characters. The mystery aspect of the conclusion was down-played a bit in order to focus on community healing at the end, in keeping with the theme.
