The second book in the Inheritance series, Eldest, is about Dragons and the people who ride them, called Riders. The main characters are Eragon, a human and Saphira, who is his dragon. In this story Eragon and Saphira travel to Du Weldenvarden to train with the Elves. When they are done training they fight in a big battle in Surda.
After defeating the shade Durza in the battle of Farthen Dur, Eragon and his dragon saphira must travel to the guarded realm of the elves to learn the secrets of magic and the Ancient Language. Meanwhile in Carvahall, his old home, his cousin Roran must fight against the vile Ra'zac and take his own place at the head of his people
