At a dinner party in the posh London suburb of Greenwich, Miles Garth suddenly leaves the table midway through the meal, locks himself in an upstairs room, and refuses to leave. An eclectic group of neighbors and friends slowly gathers around the house, and the story of Miles is one told from the points of view of four of them.

I enjoyed this book - the story was certainly compelling. My only complaint would be that the story mentions bits and pieces of the lives of periphery characters (though I'm not sure Miles could be considered a true main character since he's shut in a room for most of the story and barely speaks), yet never gives us closure. On the whole i enjoyed it, but more detail would have been nice. I especially enjoyed the character Brooke, the child that seems to see the situation more clearly than any adult.
