Little Boy Blue is the true, shocking expos that describes a brutal ongoing reality that prevails in many of America's taxpayer-funded shelters. But it's also the inspiring story of a grass-roots canine rescue network of dedicated animal lovers whose continuing efforts are saving countless dogs from unwarranted death.

For anyone who is concerned about pet overpopulation, this book will be a great read. It shows the good and bad of rescues, shelters, animal control and large animal welfare organizations, with lots of touching doggie anecdotes to spice things up. It's a great read, which I recommend with Nathan Winograd's Book: Redemption: The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Movement in America.

This book delves into the terrible kill shelters, mainly in the South, and what happens to dogs in these shelters. It also tells the happy story of the author's own journey to bring home her adopted dog, Blue. There is a great deal of information for those interested in adopting dogs, some not so happy, but informative information, also. This is not a book that makes you feel guilty if you don't adopt a shelter dog. I do recommend this book because it is informative, interesting, heartwarming and definitely worth the read.
