A great reinterpretation of a 20th century classic. Unfortunately (for me, some might say), for those who enjoy classical music, the classical piece on which its based is better.
I especially love the Rodrigo. this and Kind of Blue are my two Davis favourites
Gil Evans produced "Sketches of Spain" and Miles Davis supplied the musical talent. From the cover to the album music there are just wonderful things awaiting you. First, this is more like a jazz symphony in the that it has a clear beginning, middle and end. It can be soothing and then exciting. The images that come to my mind of a bullfight and the crowd is waiting, then the fight, and then the bull is dead and there is peace everywhere in the stadium. Other artists have done "Sketches of Spain" but Miles Davis and Gil Evans are only being copied in my mind. Next to "Kind of Blue", this is my favorite recording my Miles Davis. I would appreciate hearing how you like the recording. Just leave your comments here on the KCLS web site. Thank!!
This was one of my first Miles Davis albums I heard and I loved it.
'Tis a classic.
