I went to Venice in October of 2012, and everywhere I went there---**everywhere**---was playing "Somebody That I Used to Know." Very strange...
SOMEBODY THAT I USE TO KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eyes wide open
I really think gotye should get more praise as an artist. Its rare for a 13 year old to say this, but i think music today should have more meaning. His songs are incredible, they all have a nice story behind all of them, and the tunes are all great to listen to. I just love this guy.
I wasn't entirely sure I would like this album - and I do! The description isn't lying when it mentions Motown - I'm pretty sure one track brought the Supremes to mind. A few other tracks had me asking if hte 80s wanted their music back (in a good way - I loved them) and another is a study in synth and AutoTune. Such a crazy mash-up, with this strange folk overtone. Aside from the last 3 tracks on the album, I could listen to it straight through. (The last 3 tracks aren't bad...but I have definite preferences towards the first 9). Unsurprisingly, Somebody That I Used To Know doesn't give a fair perspective of what listeners can expect - but what single ever does? The album truly is about making music, and fans will be able to appreciate that.
