Summary

A story of romance in the late 1800s. Caroline Maxwell, although well off, cannot stand the diet her mother placed her on or the English nobles her mother keeps trying to pair her with. Aware that a Lord Bremerton will be visiting friends in Newport, Caroline’s mother becomes determined to marry Caroline off to him. Caroline has other plans. Her brother’s best friend Jack Culhane is strong, hardworking, and exactly who she wants to marry. However, Caroline’s mother thinks Jack is a completely unacceptable husband for Caroline because of his “new” money. Despite so much forcing them apart, Jack and Caroline find themselves more attracted to each other than ever. When it becomes clear Lord Bremerton plans on marrying Caroline for her money, Jack must convince Caroline’s parents that he is the best suited to be their daughter’s husband. Will Caroline and Jack get their happily ever after?
