To be very honest, this book was my least favourite of the four. It just didn't appeal to me in a way the original and second did. The story jumps back to the past where the start of Ember and why the city was created. The protagonist is also dependent on a "single" parent/guardian and seeks out another for support. It seems like this author has a thing for writing about characters with only one direct family relation to look up to. Also, I found the beginning and ending a bit hard to grasp at. The plot just unraveled a bit at the seams, but for anyone who is organized in thought this would be a good book! - @Siri of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
