I wouldn't go so far as to call it a turkey, but it is a little underwhelming considering the talent involved. It's a routine, somewhat plodding western enlivened by two icons: Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe. The formidable Austrian director Otto Preminger is behind the camera and although he directed his share of classics ("Laura," "Anatomy of a Murder"), he doesn't really have a handle on the western. Some nice Canadian landscapes and certainly worthwhile for Mitchum and Monroe. Preminger also directed Mitchum in "Angel Face."
