I'm not a huge Danielle Steel fan. I must concede however, that she, (or her staff) does very good research. This book charts the life of Meredith McKenzie through the tumultuous 1940s, 50s and 60s.Meredith's grandfather is a liberal, way ahead of his times and proves to be Meredith's mentor encouraging her to live a full life and fight the good fight; that is fight for what she believes in and champion the causes of the underdogs. Sure enough Meredith opposes her conservative father and does exactly that. The book contains the usual Steel drama but since it is interspersed with History it makes for interesting reading.
