I wasn't expecting much from Me Before You, but once I got past a few chapters it completely took me in. The NYT calls it "a love story and a family story, but above all it’s a story of the bravery and sustained effort needed to redirect the path of a life once it’s been pushed off course." Our heroes/heroines are quite ordinary people, and Moyes does a phenomenal job bringing each to life. As the story unfolds we know them intimately; their voices, their movements, their anxieties and doubts, and where their hearts lie. It's a bit risky where Moyes takes this story, but that's what makes it so brilliant and entirely believable. As with many, I wept through the last 30 pages or so. Well done.
