"Lawless" caught my eye at library (on the Staff Recommended shelves near the hold section, Pico branch). GREAT!!!
LOVED the cinematography, direction, editing and acting. The story was well-developed and mesmerizing.
Nick Cave wrote it, based on Matt Bondurant's book. His family were the main characters.
Warning: graphic violence. But this is how ppl behave. Not gratuitous. Just appeared real.
LAST movie I expected to like! About REAL moonshiners. Wow!
First time I ever saw Tom Hardy, Shia LeBeouf, Jason Clarke and Mia Waskiowska. Mesmerized by Dane DeHaan, another performer I’ve not seen. A lot of up and coming actors.
My very missed, now back in TN pal, turned me onto the Stanley Brothers. I admittedly have a VERY difficult time with any country, bluegrass, any of that music. Whatta treat to read about Ralph Stanley when researching this movie. Not exactly a typical Lou Reed interpretation. I adore Reed's version of White Light. I like FASTER music. Shot Lou Reed at the Roxy, 1977.
