Released in 1971 - Aqualung would be Jethro Tull's 4th studio album. The overall success of this record (on both sides of the Atlantic) would mark a turning point for the band, who quickly went on to become a major radio and touring act. Containing several musical genres, such as folk, blues, psychedelia and rock, Aqualung is considered to be something of a "concept" album, featuring a central theme of distinction between religion and God. This reissue CD contains all of Aqualung's 11 original songs, plus 6 bonus tracks from previous studio albums. Jethro Tull's name came from that of an 18th Century agriculturist. Singer/song-writer, Ian Anderson, was the major driving-force behind the band's somewhat eccentric musical style.
